Great Book About A Great Place...
I'm a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and I think this book is really wonderful. It gives an interesting perspective on one of our nation's most fascinating college campuses and its surrounding town. Take a chance and give this interesting read a try.

Counting Farm
Published in Hardcover by Candlewick Press (March, 1998)
Author: Kathy Henderson
Average review score:

An absolute favorite!
My 9 month old baby loves this book. Don't buy it unless you're willing to read it 4 or more times in a row, but you won't mind much because it's such a pleasant book. Great illustrations, and a nice rhyme. I bought it because a friend told me her kids loved it, and sure enough, mine does too. Very sweet, and a good sturdy board book besides.

The Cthulhu Cycle: Thirteen Tentacles of Terror (Call of Cthulhu Fiction)
Published in Paperback by Chaosium (October, 1996)
Authors: H. P. Lovecraft, Donald R. Burleson, Leonard Carpenter, Pierre Comtois, August W. Derleth, Lord Dunsany, Alan Dean Foster, C. J. Henderson, M. R. James, and Steven Paulsen
Average review score:

Attention Lovecraftian Horror Fans
This is the eleventh book in Chaosium's Cthulhu Cycle series. This volume features tales of Lovecraft's most well-known creation, the octopus-headed entity, Cthulhu. Included are the foundational stories (i.e. "The Call Of Cthulhu" by H.P. Lovecraft and "The Black Island" by August W. Derleth), some rare reprints (i.e. "Some Notes Concerning A Green Box" by Alan Dean Foster) and some interesting new stories of Cthulhu in the modern world (i.e. "Rude Awakening" by Will Murray). In any collection the stories are of varied quality but I enoyed the majority of the works collected. If you are a reader of Lovecraft's Mythos fiction then this is a must for your library.

Dahcotah: Or, Life and Legends of the Sioux Around Fort Snelling
Published in Hardcover by Afton Historical Society Press (September, 1995)
Authors: Mary Henderson Eastman, Captain Seth Eastman, Rena Neumann Coen, and Seth Eastman
Average review score:

Excellent, authentic non-fictional story book on Indian life
I found this book extremely interesting, as it is written by Mary Henderson Eastman, who actually got to know the Native Americans who lived near Fort Snelling, where Mary's Husband, Seth Eastman, was stationed. I was completely engulfed by her stories, and sometimes felt as if I were right there with her, experiencing first hand what these Native Americans were like and how they lived. I applaud the Afton Historical Society Press for their efforts in preserving our country's history, and for putting a small part of that history in such a beautiful book--lovely paper, and a stunning dust jacket. Anyone who enjoys history, or just a good story, should DEFINITELY buy this book!!

Diagnostic Ultrastructure of Non-Neoplastic Diseases
Published in Hardcover by Churchill Livingstone (August, 1992)
Authors: John M. Papdimitriou, Douglas Henderson, and Dominic Spagnolo
Average review score:

An essential guide for all diagnostic electron microscopists
I have used this book for over 3 years now and find it an invaluable aid in recognising diagnostic features in the Non-Neoplastic diseases. I feel that one of the most important features of this volume is the use of human case studies. Other volumes tend to show results from animal studies which often may or may not show similar features in human diseases. The textual information is comprehensive and relevant and the lists of references is of great use for further reading. I would recommend this work as an essential volume for any diagnostic EM laboratory.

Dinosaur Ghosts: The Mystery of Coelophysis
Published in Hardcover by Dial Books for Young Readers (April, 1997)
Authors: J. Lynett Gillette, Doug Henderson, and Douglas Henderson
Average review score:

Visually stunning! A must have for dinosaur lovers.
Gillette and Henderson have produced a brilliant introduction to the scientific process of understanding fossil remains and what they tell us about life (and death) in the Age of Dinosaurs. Gillette's text cleverly leads the reader on a journey of discovery and hypothesis ably elucidated by Douglas Henderson's inspired illustrations - So gorgeously rendered are these illustrations that the Ceolophysis seem to move...

Divine Action: Studies Inspired by the Philosophical Theology of Austin Farrer
Published in Hardcover by T&t Clark Ltd (June, 1900)
Authors: Edward Henderson and Brian L. Hebblethwaite
Average review score:

An important and valuable study
This book is a collection of well-crafted, highly useful essays on the important twentieth-century thinker Austin Farrer, an Oxford don and priest of the Church of England. Anyone interested in philosophical theology, in British theology during the era of C. S. Lewis, in modern understandings of divine providence, or in the relationship between theology and spirituality should examine this work carefully. Very nicely done.

DNA Repair Protocols, Eukaryotic Systems
Published in Hardcover by Humana Press (15 July, 1999)
Author: Daryl S. Henderson
Average review score:

DNA Repair Protocols: Eukaryotic Systems
Personally I think "DNA Repair Protocol: Eukaryotic Systems" is a great academic book based on my over ten years of research experiences in Genetic Toxicology. This book provides detailed, step-by-step instructions for studying manifold aspects of the eukaryotic responses to genotoxic damage, including a lot of useful tips in handling all kinds of DNA repair experiments. Compared with Friedberg's textbook "DNA Repair and Mutagenesis", which comprehensively covers all fundamental knowledge about DNA damage, mutagenesis and DNA repair, this book focused on detailed experimental protocols and new techniques, plus a wonderful and concise introduction and explanation of each methods. In my opinion, this book refreshments my background knowledge, gives me an overview of recent progress in new methods and techniques, and ignites some new ideas to pursue further studies in this active field. Taken together, I think this is an essential handbook for professors and scientists in DNA damage and repair field and other related fields.
